Citrine screams Summer to me. It’s warm glow & golden hue makes me dream of summer sunsets & warm breezes. When you place Citrine in your hand, you are immediately feel the energy that this little power house packs.
Citrine is a crystal quartz, part of the Quartz family. It’s transparent and can range in colour from a bright gold to a pale yellow. The name Citrine came from the French word Cintron, meaning lemon. When you find a piece, especially tumbled, you can really see the gemmy, juicy lemon aspect. Citrine is mined in Russia, Madagascar and Kazakhstan. When looking for Citrine to purchase, make sure it’s not Amethyst that has been heat treated which turns the crystal from purple to yellow. A true Citrine will have no bubbles and be a true golden yellow with hues of brown or red. The pale yellow Citrine is often called Lemon Quartz as well.
History & Citrine in Ancient Times
The word Citrine in the English language, dates as far back as 1385. Egyptians used Citrine as talismans as they felt it held the power of the sun. It would calm anger and manifest desires. The Romans carved it into beautiful rings that both men & women wore. It was gifted as a symbol of hospitality & friendship. The Greeks called Citrine “The Gold Stone” and used it in their jewelry and to adorn their tools & swords.

Citrine is THE stone for wealth and abundance and with it’s golden colour it acts like a spiritual halo that connects to the Crown chakra. This crystal gives you the confidence to follow your dreams and set the intentions for prosperity and good fortune. If your manifesting financial goals, this is THE crystal to reach for to align yourself.
Carrying this stone in your purse or wallet is key, even a small chip stone will do. If you have an Abundance & Prosperity alter in your home, Citrine should be a major player. Usually, this type of alter or crystal on it’s own should be located in the South-East corner of your home.
I consider Citrine to be the “Queen Crystal of the Summer Solstice” and I usually wear it all summer long.
