Amethyst…calm & clarity unite as one. This sugar plum stone is definitely part of my “Divine 9”, stones that I feel can be both meaningful & necessary in anyone’s collection. Once you spot Amethyst, you can feel the waves of violet vibration emanating even from the smallest chip stones.
Don’t let me fool you with using only two words to describe this beauty. The Amethyst confidently has so many amazing qualities, the words “calm” & “clarity” are very large “umbrellas” in this case. Inner peace & alertness; positive sense of judgement & willpower, it’s often used for sobriety of the body, mind & spirit or…wanting to take a break from the vino after a weekend of one too many glasses.
The richness of the many purple hues that Amethyst possesses, signifies the richness of it’s heritage. Purple has always signified royalty and Amethyst never falls short of that. There are a few different types of this stone from dark to light, Chevron to Amethyst with Chalcedony, all with different mineral make ups and spiritual meanings.
Amethyst dates back with assistance of Greek & Egyptian mythology and is mined today from Uruguay to Brazil, South Africa, Siberia & Sri Lanka. The Greeks believed that the stone protected one from “intoxication” and promoted sweet dreams thus the clarity & calmness. This violet flame resides in the Quartz family and grows into stunning points. It’s price is currently VERY reasonable for a high quality piece.
Amethyst is the stone of the Third Eye & Crown Chakra’s. This crystal stimulates both areas & gives the holder strength to not only see changes that need to be made but to put those changes into action. Amethyst allows the holder to be open to their intuition and maybe even trust it. Keeping Amethyst close allows us to sit back a bit & let the flow take over knowing it will all work out. I always need some of that!!!
In a healing setting, you may see mats of sparkling Amethyst on top of massage or treatment tables. The energy allows for the client to be physically “held” by the supportive qualities of the stone. It assists the Practitioner in giving the Client clear sight of the positive health outcome & in the case of Amethyst, the healing goes towards our intuition & imagination; wisdom & connection to higher guidance.
If your searching to strengthen your intuitive connection, using it in ceremony or wearing it often will get you closer to realising your intuitive potential. Having Amethyst close during sleep will enhance your dreams with messages you’ve been needing to receive. It is said that the Greek Goddess, Artemis took pity on a maiden who could not ward off the advances of many Gods so she turned the maiden into a beautiful, crystal. The maiden’s name was Amethyst and she was said to visit the lucky in their dreams to assist in warding off the unwanted and giving clear sight of goals & wishes.
Amethyst is used for physical healing as well as mental & spiritual healing. It’s vibrations can assist in stress reduction, headaches & improves circulation. Many people carry it to encourage the removal of something or to quit something like weight loss or smoking. It’s pretty available in most areas in raw or polished forms, jewellery & home decor use. Have you seen some of the votive holders made of Amethyst??? AMAZING!!!
Amethyst is always close in my house and in a few different size options. It’s a comforting stone that most people reach for naturally. With it’s dreamy colour & sparkling points you can get lost in a cluster of it’s powerful, violet vibrations for hours. xo
