Selenite, The Divine Connector

Selenite, is one of what I call “The Divine 9” stones. It is a MUST in your collection. The use of this stone is so versatile & you can never have enough in your healing space or in your home. It provides divine amplification for emotional & physical uses.

Selenite originates in Spain from as far back as 42 BCE. Selenite is a crystalized form of Gypsum, the soft, sulphate mineral. Selenite was said to be the stone of the Moon Goddess, Selene. It is said by the Greeks, that Selene was encapsulated inside the stone itself and with it’s many, many amazing qualities that come from the Goddess of the Moon herself, having Selenite in your daily practice & life is essential.

I use Selenite for indoor use only…for now. With the beautiful crystalized jewel comes the alter qualities of Gypsum in that if submersed in water for extended periods of time, it will diminish and wash away with the moisture. Two of my  favourite body artists, T&D xo,  buried Gypsum at the four corners of their property to enrich their physical as well as mental home space. With this stones grounding capabilities alone, it would create such a positive living experience. With it’s protective yet calming ways, the house, home & hearth would only prosper.

Selenite is the all-time, number one ceremonial stone…ever. I never open a circle without it. The grounding & protection of this stone are a given but the unique ability it has to instantly calm the physical nerves is astounding. It assists in self control and ensuring that the energies that are flowing, are doing so for your highest good. If you are to carry one stone, Selenite IS IT!!!

I use this stone in ceremony, in cleansing & around my home because of it’s purity & innocence. I go into these spaces looking for something & if I can offer those qualities with me, my spirit grows, my family grows and my practice grows. Selenite has many connections, numerically, it connects to the number 7 which signifies spirituality, sensitivity, learning, growing and all inner strengths. Some of the most special qualities in family, ceremony & practice.

Some of the everyday, basic uses for Selenite are to balance the body physically, mentally, spiritually & emotionally, just by holding it & keeping it in your immediate space. I have several pieces around the house for picking up & holding or carrying. We also have Selenite lamps poking around here & there. The Selenite “wands” that you can find at your local shop, are so powerful in quality yet so innocent in appearance and the price on Selenite is never out of range. Even if you are collecting one piece at a time, you will be happy with what you get for your dollar.

Selenite is also a piece I always have in my Reiki & Shiatsu spaces. The calming effect is obvious on my clients. Selenite is not anything that is too confusing. It is what it is & I think we a patients want to feel the natural connection when we enter into a healing space. I use Selenite as a wand to wave over my clients body, an infinite swirl of calm, balancing, grounding protection.

Selenite also corresponds to the Water element ,which is always funny to me considering how volatile they are together. The biggest Gypsum mine today is located in Nova Scotia, Canada which is a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The area is steeped in not only Canadian history but is also heavily linked to Norse culture. The mighty Sea and her wild, yet strong & sturdy ways makes it’s way into Selenite along with the beauty, security & calmness of the Moon Goddess and her tides. Selenite is a very special stone & one that you can make an instant connection with no matter how small or mighty the piece that finds you, happens to be. xo
